For a change it was the u13 and u15 boys who led the way, with the u17s under strength due to illness and exams. There were 4 first places for the u13s, with Alfie Howlett bagging the best of them with a strong showing in the A string shot, but Adam Smith and Harry Peach were not far behind with good B string victories in the 100m and High Jump. The u13s rounded off a good day with victory in the 4 x 100m relay. Thanks are due to Harry Strickland and Cameron Davies who stepped in to the 800m at the last minute; both performed creditably, Cameron earlier having doubled up with a good first race for the club over 200m. Credit goes as well to Flynn and Jake Molan – Jake for tackling the 1200m and shot, Flynn for javelin and discus; both boys showed determination to win valuable points. The u15 boys had a magnificent day, taking first place in their age group having harvested a haul of first places and personal bests. Matthew Gain, enjoying the sunshine and really hitting his stride, knocked almost half a second off his 100m PB, going under 12s for the first time, and following this with his first sub-24s 200m. Coming second in the high jump, 5cm short of his PB Matthew missed out on a perfect triple, but is looking awesomely unbeatable over 200m this season. Middle distance runners Ben Upjohn, Owen Huxley and Matthieu Marshall were not to be outshone and cleaned up with three first places in the 800m A and B string, and 1500m. With throwers Tomasz Napiorkowski and Tom Anstice once again caning their opponents with victories in shot and discus, the under 15 boys once again performed outstandingly well. On a disappointing day for the u17s Tom Downs continued his domination of the 100m in the county with another fine win, and then added 5 cm to his long jump personal best before winning the B string shot, but credit must go too to Mark Warland for fine supporting performances in shot, discus and 100m, and Michael Ruiz in the high hurdles
Despite having a very small U15 team ( just 2 ) competitors, and a rather depleted U17's due to exams and many having competed at the Southern Women’s on the Saturday - we managed a fantastic 3rd place overall.
The U13 girls were once again in outstanding form coming 2nd, only 3 points behind the winners Radley so well done. Simi Fajemisin and Beth Mulvaney cleaned up in the long jump and Danielle Garden had a convincing win in the Javelin. A PB of 31.10 in the 200m for Alice Hopkins and exceptional runs by Beth Mulvaney ( 2.41.4) and Charlotte Stafford ( 2.40.6) in the 800m. Well done to Storm Sunderland who knocked a second off her 1200m PB and to newcomer Katie Gregory who ran 1200m in 4.27.0.
Rachel Munday and Jess Daniels valiantly represented the U15's with Rachel and Jess throwing PBs in the discus.
The U17's took time out of revising and gained a great 4th place only 2 points behind the joint seconds of Abingdon and Banbury. Fantastic runs by Imogen Kempton - PB of 2.29.4 -and Ellie Burns who cleaned up in the 800m and well done to Kathryn Munday for a PB of 6.28.5 in the 1200m despite the heat. Emily Carstairs PB in the Shot - 8.82
