Oxford City AC men top the table after the opening round of the Oxford Mail X/C league staged at a very wet and windy Ascot-under-Wychwood on Sunday 1st November 2009. The first man home for the club was D Bellinger in second followed in third by S Male, 9th was A Burgess,28th B Green, 47th C Thompson, 58th T Dixon & 57th P Huxley.
The majority of the clubs under elevens were competing for the first time in a cross country event in pouring rain and gale force winds the youngsters ran their hearts out.In the girls competition Ciara Huxley ran the race of her life to finish second, Brittany Egden followed her home in 4th, Ellie Millington 24th, Emily Wood 30th & Catherine Garden 41st. First boy home was the fast improving Jack Haile in 15th, Freddie Sunderland 16th, Finn Johnson-Ward 22nd, George King-Thompson 23rd & Joe Schuller 31st.
Harry Robertson was the pick of the juniors winning the combined U15/U17 boys race by 12 seconds from Radleys George Miller, Ed Nesbitt & Matthieu Marshall finish 7th & 10th to give the boys the overall team competition by one point from Radley AC.
In the U13 boys George Henry finished 5th and Harry Peach 18th.
The U13 girls race was won by the ever dependable Beth Hawtin but only by one second from Marborough's Amy Cooper, Mya Walker 11th, Beth Mulvany & Billie Meadowcroft in 16th the girls sit second in the table three points behind Team Kennet.
In the U15/U17 girls race Lauren Hawtin took the honors finishing ten seconds in front of Jade Walker, Rebecca Byren was 4th, Elissa Clarke 7th, Ellie Burns 10th, Hannah Sangan 24th & Kathryn Munday 32nd.
OCAC ladies missed a host of their runners but still managed to finish seventh with Sarah Davies bring the ladies home in 14th.
