Marvellous Melissa wins at Banbury

The very talented sixteen year old Melissa Hawtin won the women’s race in round three of the Oxford Mail Cross Country league on Sunday January 3rd 2010. Melissa led from start to finish, finishing 48 seconds in front of Jenny Manners from Cirencester.
OCAC women finished in second place overall with great runs from Martha Lloyd 10th & Lizzie Berg 23rd, Gwyneth Hueter 34th,Christine Marshall 78th, Clare Grierson 83rd, Lisa Sammons 86th made of the field.
In the men’s race Steve Male was missing through illness so it was left to Darrell Bellinger to lead the men home in 6th position hot of a plane from two weeks in Las Vegas was not the best race preparation, Aaron Burgess 16th, John Robertson 18th, Matthew Coffey 32nd, Brian Green 34th, Phillip Huxley 45th & Carl Thompson 57th the men once again finished in first position 49 points in front of Swindon Harriers.
The team of the day must go to the U15/U17 Girls where Lauren Hawtin won the race followed by Rebecca Byren & Ellie Burns who had the race of their lives to finish in second and third respectively.
The girl’s team finished 31 points in front of White Horse Harriers and 32 points in front of their own B team.
