U17 Women
Day 1: The first event of the weekend was the u17 womens 80m hurdles. This did not start well for Oxford Schools as Emily Carstairs (OCAC) fell and broke her finger. She bounced back however and was only just pipped by Louise Brown (Radley) as they recorded 12.5 and 12.6 seconds respectively.

Danielle Anderson selected for European youth olympics team

23 track and field athletes are among the 61-strong team that has been selected by the British Olympic Association to represent Team GB at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Tampere, Finland from 18-25 July 2009.

The 10th edition of the EYOF will see nearly 2500 athletes from 49 European nations competing in a total of nine sports: athletics, cycling, gymnastics, judo, swimming, tennis, basketball, handball and volleyball. Participating athletes will be between 13 and 16 years old, depending on their sport.

OMG Hannah over the moon at lifetime best

Hannah England underlined her massive potential with a sensational display to help Great Britain to third place in the European Team Championships in Leiria, Portugal.

The Oxford City AC athlete was only due to be running in the 1,500m, but after Jenny Meadows withdrew, England was called upon to compete in the 800m.

And a stunning burst down the home straight saw her smash her personal best by more than two seconds, and break the magical two-minute mark as she came home in fourth place.

Cody leads Juniors to victory at Salisbury

Following on from the success at the last match, Oxford City came away from this penultimate fixture of the NYAL with another first place performance, finishing just under 30 points ahead of Wycombe, Winchester and hosts Salisbury.

Nathan gunning for glory again

OXFORD City triple jumper Nathan Douglas is free of injury and gearing up for a massive season.

And he has vowed to get back to the sort of form that saw him qualify for the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.

The 26-year-old has suffered a rash of injuries in the last two years, but still competed for Great Britain at the Beijing Games last year – although he was unable to reach the final.

But Douglas, who has now fully recovered from a nagging left hamstring injury, believes his best is yet to come, with the world championships in Berlin in August his goal.
